Selling at EcoChic — How it Works

Recycling at its best! Consignment is a fun and easy way to reduce clutter and increase CASH.

Payment and Schedule

We accept consigned items in two cycles, spring and summer items between January and June, fall and winter items between August and November.

Items are consigned for the entire season. If an item is consigned late in the season it will be in the store for a shorter length of time. The consignor receives 40% of the actual selling price.

As items sell, your EcoChic Boutique credit balance will grow. Use credit for purchases at EcoChic Boutique at any time, or wait and receive a check by mail. The date of your first check pick up will be indicated on your consignment agreement. We will only mail checks when the consignor account balance is over $40.00, but consignors can call and request to pick up a check when their balance is $20.00 or more.

All prices and price reductions are at the discretion of EcoChic Boutique. We reserve the right to run discounts or promotions as we feel necessary.

Choosing Items to Consign

Consign only items of high quality, unique styles, and good labels. EcoChic Boutique specializes in unique and unusual clothing, designer labels and better-brand women’s clothing. This includes business and casual attire, formal wear, shoes, handbags, accessories and jewelry. All clothing must be of current styling. Items should be no more than three years old, clean, pressed, and in near-perfect condition. Items with flaws such as perfume or mold smells, pilling, soil, smoke odors, missing buttons, pet hair, broken zippers or other flaws will not be accepted. All items will be thoroughly inspected when you bring them to the store. We will only accept clothing and shoes for the current season. Jewelry and accessories are accepted year round. Since our customer’s needs determine our selections, sometimes there will be items we cannot accept. Any information you can provide about the original retail price of your items can be useful in determining our selling price.

Dropping Off Clothing

CONSIGNMENTS ARE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Try to book appointments a month in advance.

How to Deliver Items to EcoChic Boutique

We prefer to receive clothing on hangers, but will also accept them neatly folded in a bag, box, laundry basket or plastic bin. We will not accept clothing that is crushed or wrinkled.

When dropping off clothing you may enter via the front or back entrance to the store. You can park in our back lot off of Jamesville Road if front parking lot is full. Back door is only used for consignment drop-offs and is locked at all times, so please ring door bell for service. Regular customers who are not bringing clothing can park in either lot but are kindly requested to enter via the front of the building.

Out of Town Consignors

We accept consignments from all over the country. You can ship your items to us, but please contact us before shipping. For return of unaccepted items, provide an appropriate pre-labeled UPS (or similar shipping agency) box. Otherwise, unaccepted items received this way will be donated to charity.

Items We Accept:

  • Women’s clothing (regular, petite, tall and plus sizes)
  • Shoes
  • Handbags and purses
  • Hats, scarves and wraps
  • Fine and costume jewelry (vintage and contemporary)
  • Gloves, belts, ties, designer sunglasses and similar accessories

Unsold Items:

Consignors have a choice of picking up unsold items at the end of the consignment cycle or choose to have them donated to charity. EcoChic donates all unsold items to Vera House. Consignors will have a two-week window in which to pick up unsold items, indicated on the consignment agreement. The consignor is responsible for reclaiming unsold items within the allowed time period. NOTICE WILL NOT BE GIVEN. There will be a $10.00 charge from your account if items are picked up before our two-week pick up date schedule. Any items remaining in the store after the final pick up date will become the property of EcoChic Boutique and may be donated to charity, disposed of, or reintroduced into inventory. Please call 48 hours in advance of pick-up to allow us time to pull your items from the racks.

We will do our best to safeguard your items, however, EcoChic Boutique does not assume responsibility for, or insure against any losses due to fire, theft, water damage or other causes.
